• In the US, the prevalence of obesity among adults increased from 1999 to 2000 through
2017 to 2018 from 30.5% to 42.4%.
• In the US between 2015 and 2018, the prevalence of overweight and obesity among
children and adolescents age 2-19 years, was 35.4% (16.4% were overweight and 19.0%
were obese).
• According to 2015 to 2016 data, the prevalence of obesity for children aged 2 to 5 years
was 13.9 %; for children aged 6 to 11 years, prevalence was 18.4%; and for adolescents
